Consistency matters more than perfection

Consistency Matters More Than Perfection

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency matters more than perfection.

For a long time, I thought success meant getting everything right. Having the perfect plan. Making the perfect decision. Never making mistakes.

Life has taught me otherwise.

Every person who has accomplished something meaningful started as a beginner. Every artist painted a first canvas. Every entrepreneur made a first sale. Every athlete lost games before winning championships. Growth has never been about perfection—it has always been about showing up again.

I’ve stopped chasing other people’s definition of perfect.

Instead, I ask myself one simple question:

Am I becoming a better version of who I was yesterday?

That question has changed everything.

Being consistent means giving yourself permission to learn. It means accepting that some days you’ll make incredible progress, while other days your biggest accomplishment might simply be not giving up.

There is wisdom in understanding your limitations. There is strength in asking for help when you need it. There is maturity in recognizing when you’ve done everything you can for today and trusting that tomorrow is another opportunity to grow.

Perfection is subjective. What one person praises, another person may criticize. If we spend our lives chasing everyone’s approval, we’ll never feel like we’ve arrived.

Real confidence comes from respecting your own journey.

I don’t believe anyone truly masters everything. There will always be something new to discover, another skill to develop, another perspective to understand. That’s one of the beautiful things about life—we remain students for as long as we’re willing to learn.

My goal isn’t to be perfect.

My goal is to keep learning, keep growing, and keep becoming someone who can encourage and help others along the way.

At Key of Essence, that’s what growth means to me. It’s not about pretending to have all the answers. It’s about committing to the journey with patience, humility, and gratitude.

So if you’re feeling discouraged because you’re not where you want to be yet, remember this:

Keep showing up.

Keep learning.

Keep growing.

Because consistency, practiced over time, will take you farther than perfection ever could.
